Asia-Pacific Association for Fertility Preservation

In recent years, fertility preservation (FP) has become an important concern for cancer patients as well as for women seeking protection against future infertility due to aging and/or other causes. Asia-Pacific Association for Fertility Preservation (APAFP) was developed in 2014 and founded in 2021 by experts of Oncology and Reproductive Medicine from Asia-Pacific countries to promote FP science and clinical practice. In Mainland China, awareness of the importance of FP has gradually increased with new developments in research and clinical practice from every province. The purpose of APAFP is to unite every group from each province of Mainland China and Asia-Pacific countries to exchange information for FP with science and practice.

The mission of APAFP is to raise awareness of FP among healthcare professionals and the public, to improve technical skills and to keep healthcare practitioners informed about the latest development in the field and research and clinical practice. The APAFP strives to develop FP programs in Asia-Pacific countries through exchanges between countries, conferences, and educational programs. Future goals include development of a strategy to promote multidisciplinary approaches between practitioners, policy creation, and advancement of a referral system for patients.

The patient demand for FP is expected to increase in the near future, since it is a key area of reproductive medicine. We expect that APAFP will serve as an important organization to mark the beginning of the future FP development in Asia-Pacific countries, and to stimulate FP research and clinical practice in Asia-Pacific area and worldwide.
